Friday, Oct. 22. Phoenix, AZ. The Dressing Room.

For some reason we had a twelve hour drive today, from Amarillo to Phoenix. A twelve hour drive can be a terrible thing, but the drive through the entire state of New Mexico was breathtaking, good for the imagination, daydreams of becoming a recluse outside the town of Thoreau.

This NM rest area comes with a poll.

We also tried to make a stop at Meteor Crater, but tickets to see the thing were expensive, so we took a little drive instead, down a road marked with a sign that read, “PRIMITIVE ROAD. DRIVE AT YOUR OWN RISK.” I took this photo of a cattle guard before we turned back.

The show in Phoenix was at a great new little gallery called The Dressing Room.

They are just getting started with the space, but have wonderful plans, like recording all the shows to half inch tape. The show was with Hell-Kite, really enjoyed her set.
Michelle Blades played the show as well with her band.

We met an artist from Black Mountain, who put us up at his studio and gave us a cactus flower.
The flower came from this prodigious plant.
