Tuesday, Oct. 6. Athens, GA. The Flicker Bar.

The van made it to Athens. This felt miraculous; we had been fully expecting the engine to fall out somewhere in South Carolina. We were so happy when we arrived at The Flicker Bar that I started my set off with the most upbeat songs.

Bryan's cousin Kelly Girtz helped us find this show. The Flicker Bar is a fun club; they have curtains, popcorn, a big projector screen and a taxiderm-ied beaver.

We played with Tiny Distance and Emily Armond. Gary met a crazy guy at a record shop. He also met an old dear friend, who used to work with him at a record shop, at the show, a nice surprise.

We had fun with Kelly and were extremely comfy at his house.

Athens was 80 degrees in October the next day. With extreme disappointment, we canceled our Gainesville shows on the 7th and 8th to address the van situation. We had been really looking forward to playing at this amazing gallery down there, The Church of Holy Colors, and to seeing our friend Hal McGee. I guess that's just the way it goes.
