Thursday, Sept. 23. Hudson, NY. The Spotty Dog.

We stayed with Kath and Stan at their house in Litchfield, CT. Stan made us delicious omelets with portabella mushrooms and peppers, tomatoes, basil and oregano from their garden, and homemade bread.

Bryan, Gary and I went with Kath to take her dogs for a beautiful walk in the woods.

Philip slept all day, it was funny. When we got back, Kath and I sang some songs in the backyard while Stan worked on the all-wood antique canoe he’s restoring.

The drive from Litchfield to Hudson was beautiful, winding roads, sun on fall colors and old stone walls.

Hudson was full of people from all over because the Prometheus Project and the cool citizens of the town are having a virtual “Barnraising” for a new community radio station this weekend. It would have been nice to stay in town just to hang out with those folks for longer. Dan Seward from Bunnybrains set up the show with us at the Spotty Dog, an extremely chill and attractive bookstore and bar.

We got to eat pizza with sweet potatoes, parsnips and fennel on it and had the chance to explore the quaint main drag a bit before the show.

Dan is a record dealer, like Gary, and they geeked out together for a while before the show.

My favorite part of setting up this tour myself is all the eclectic bills. Tonight it was Kath Bloom and Bunnybrains, seriously. And it was great.

Kath and I sang a bunch of songs together.

During our set, Philip impulsively started playing slide mandolin with a half-full beer glass. It worked so well that he's going to play slide mandolin all the time now. At the end Bryan performed with Bunnybrains. I thought it was a successful collaboration. Bunnybrains acoustic set!
